39/2026 Francisco Canaro & Roberto Maida tango tanda
Roberto Maida was a great match for the orchestra and on some of the songs everything comes together perfectly.
Welcome to this last week's tanda!
I needed some more time to finish moving apartments, and missed last week's tanda. So this weekend you will get two tandas to keep us on track! I am still fully committed to posting one tanda for each week. 😄
As the blog template doesn't really show statistics, let me just say that Tanda of the Week currently has a total of 111 tandas, including:
Some of the most popular orchestras on the blog are of course (the big four) Aníbal Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan D'Arienzo, Carlos Di Sarli, but you can find tandas from orchestras such as Domingo Federico, Jose Garcia and Ricardo Pedevilla as well. I also try to feature modern tango orchestra tandas every now and then. You can find most of the tango orchestras featured on the blog here.
There are plenty of free tandas for everyone, and as a subscribed free member you will have access to 50% of all tandas. You can also subscribe as a paid member or purchase a gift membership for a friend, which will grant access to all the tandas.
Tell a friend... or just give them a gift membership for a month?
If we haven't been introduced yet, I am Antti Suniala from Helsinki, Finland. I've DJ'd several music styles for over 30 years and tango for the last 16 or so. These days I play only a few milongas and festivals per year, but you can find a list of my past and future tour dates here.
I wrote the original Tanda of the Week from 2010 to 2016, and started again from scratch a few years ago. Most of the tandas on the blog are mine, but there are also a few guest DJ tandas! If you'd like to feature your tanda on the blog, don't hesitate to contact me by email.
My one Francisco Canaro & Roberto Maida tango tanda
This is one of the one or two Canaro/Maida tango tandas I like to play. There used to be a time when the song "Invierno" was still hard to find, and I searched for it for a good time without realizing I had had the song in my vinyl collection all the time. To this day I still play the vinyl rip version of the song.
Francisco Canaro is not among my favorite orchestras, but I can't deny that singer Roberto Maida was a great match for the orchestra and on some of the songs everything from the vocals, orchestra, and compositions to arrangements come together perfectly.
In trying to create a tanda that would work well with Invierno as the first song, this is what I came up with.
- Francisco Canaro & Roberto Maida - Invierno 1937-09-18
- Francisco Canaro & Roberto Maida - Milonguita 1936-11-20
- Francisco Canaro & Roberto Maida - Mi noche triste 1936-07-14
- Francisco Canaro & Roberto Maida - Recuerdos de París 1937-11-16
