27/2026 Rodolfo Biagi & Alberto Amor - Cuando llora la milonga
"I feel the uptempo arrangement, with the bandoneons, Biagi's trademark piano and the violins sharp enough to hurt someone, becomes rather irresistible."
Welcome to this week's tanda!
We are getting close to 100 tandas on Tanda of the Week! This is number 95 and I feel like we are just getting started!
Your support and all the shares and recommendations mean a lot! Especially when I have made the decision of not posting anything about Tanda of the Week on social media (apart for my Bluesky account). I think Meta have gone too far with Facebook & Instagram and I rather look for ways to connect elsewhere.
We have featured four Biagi tandas previously:
- 45/2026 Rodolfo Biagi & Jorge Ortiz tango
- 21/2025 Rodolfo Biagi 1950s instrumental tango
- 34/2025 Rodolfo Biagi milongas
- 08/2026 Rodolfo Biagi & Andrés Falgás tango
This week we'll add a tanda with singer Alberto Amor to the list. While Amor is probably not on the top of the list of singers to play at a milonga, he did record 30 songs with Rodolfo Biagi between 1943-1947. We should know him at least from one of the most popular milongas "Flor de Montserrat" from 1945.
If I imagine a scenario where I've already played Alberto Podestá with Di Sarli, then I'd give myself the pass to play Biagi/Amor's interpretation of "Nada". Once I get past the fact it's not the Di Sarli/Podestá version, I feel the uptempo arrangement, with the bandoneons, Biagi's trademark piano and the violins sharp enough to hurt someone, becomes rather irresistible. Then again this is the favorite version of the song for many!

27/2026 Rodolfo Biagi & Alberto Amor - Cuando llora la milonga
While there are many tangos to choose from Biagi and Amor, I feel this is one of the more consistent tandas based on their discography, keeping the tempo rather high for mid-40s tangos. The beat slows down after the first song (65 bpm), but I feel that Cuando llora la milonga at 63 bpm has a surprisingly strong drive and ending. Even stronger than "Si la llegaran a ver", a song I contemplated for the tanda, at 67 bpm. It's not always about the tempo!
