"Pacho" was one of the most important musicians who followed the first generation of tango players, the Guardia Vieja.

Welcome to this week's tanda!

I really rarely play any of late 1920s and early 1930s tangos, but thought of this one tanda that I had played in a few sets and shared in my old blog back in 2010.

The tanda features Juan Maglio (1880-1934), who went by the nickname of 'Pacho' was a bandoneonist, orchestra leader and composer and was one of the most important musicians who followed the first generation of tango players, the Guardia Vieja.

I just realized that the tanda started with the 1927 instrumental recording of "Ventanita De Arrabal", a fabulous song also featured as a vocal version by Pugliese/Vidal in 1950 in the following tanda:
