29/2025 - Osvaldo Pugliese & Roberto Chanel tanda - Sin lágrimas
There isn't a chance of not giving this tanda your 110% as a dancer.

Welcome to this week's tanda!
This will be the 4th Osvaldo Pugliese tanda of Tanda of the Week.
It seems like I have been saving the amazing vocalists of Pugliese for later, with two of the tandas being instrumental tandas of songs from the 1940s or 1950s, and one of the tandas being the modern orchestra Orquesta Silbando performing instrumentals from the Pugliese catalog.
I will try to feature more of the vocalists as soon as possible. Let's start with Roberto Chanel!

For highest quality transfers of Osvaldo Pugliese recordings I always recommend:
And I just read Barry M. Hashimoto's Substack on Pugliese recordings in 1949-1950 and the interview of Frank Jin of TangoSparks. I'm looking forward to listening to the new TangoSparks transfers asap!

The vocalists of Osvaldo Pugliese
Let's have a quick look at 5 of the most celebrated singers that recorded for Osvaldo Pugliese in the 1940s or 1950s.
- Roberto Chanel (1943-1947)
- Alberto Morán (1945-1954)
- Jorge Vidal (1949-1950)
- Miguel Montero (1954-1958)
- Jorge Maciel (1954-1967)
Roberto Chanel recorded 32 songs for Pugliese, including 3 duets with Alberto Morán. Some of the most beautiful tangos ever recorded include Farol and Fuimos.
Songs like Yuyo verde, La Mentirosa and Pasional made Alberto Morán one of the most popular tango vocalists of all time.
Jorge Vidal recorded only 7 tangos and 1 milonga for Pugliese including the excellent Vieja recova.
Miguel Montero's "Antiguo reloj de cobre" went gold selling over 35,000 copies.
Jorge Maciel is one of my favorite singers and songs like Cascabelito and Remembranza are very popular in milongas to this day. The singer was featured also in the blog's Alfredo Gobbi & Jorge Maciel tanda.
