When I'm DJing I mostly play - and create tandas - one song at a time. Often I'm asked around the 4th song of the tanda what is the next tanda, and my answer is "I don't know! Ask me at the end of the cortina."
I enjoy the challenge of this approach and like to put myself in difficult situations. I DJ tango only "digitally" or whatever it should be called. Not preparing tandas and playlists beforehand makes it more like DJing vinyl again, which I still do with swing jazz sometimes. Of course, at the same time, I keep notes of everything I've played and scribble on paper what the last orchestras I play could be and how the entire set might turn out.
Anyhow, this brings me to putting myself in the situation of starting a tanda with Miguel Calo's "A mi me llaman Juan Tango", a song I never play or probably have played ever, and not knowing what comes next.
